#poweredbyskout: Tillamook Burn Trail Run

We love the chance to fuel epic adventures, so naturally we jumped at the chance to fuel amazing athletes at the Tillamook Burn Trail Run a few weeks back!

Skout Backcountry - Tillamook Burn Trail Run

The Tillamook Burn is a 50k and 50 mile race in the Tillamook National Forest. The terrain is rough and rugged making it a super epic, challenging feat. Both the 50 miler and 50K successfully sold out months ago (170 runners per race), and included participants from 26 US States, Canadian Provinces, and Japan! The races also attracted multiple elite participants with world-class résumés, including Max King, Ashley Nordell, Ryan Kaiser, and Rod Bein.

Skout Backcountry - Tillamook Burn Trail RunThis year, Skout Backcountry was lucky enough to support the runners with Trail Bars along the trail and to be there for direct support at an aid station. We created extra special snacks with our Skout bars — Skout S’mores and bacon-wrapped Skout bars… the runners LOVED the bacon-wrapped bars and were grateful for savory, unique trail treats.

Our team had the best time greeting runners as they ran up in need of food and water. We were amazed by the perseverance of each individual — running up in high spirits, they were happy to see us and refuel.

We had two of our amazing ambassadors on Team Skout Backcountry able to help out at the aid station — Ashley Kelly and Sebastian Dirringer. Of her experience volunteering, Ashley said, “A couple of kids, Iris and Harold from New Zealand, were waiting for their mom to come thru and they were helping me get bib numbers. The community truly is amazing. It was like the most important thing to us was that the runners succeeded. And with the competitive world we live in…that to me is so beautiful.”

As Skout dives deeper with the outdoor community in the Portland area, we are so excited to be directly connected with amazing athletes like all of the runners we supported at the Burn.

As we learned from the Tillamook Burn race director Jeremy Long at our speaker series, it takes months of prep and planning to put on a successful race. This was the second year Jeremy has put on this race, and we are in awe at his ability to do so in such a seamless manner!

We look forward to supporting many more races and events this summer and keep fueling epic adventures!
